In terms of skillset yes, but I would say his best overall was his peak in Miami. The crazy thing about his time in Miami is that DWade actually _hurt_ his overall impact numbers a bit because they played similarly, and LeBron was more efficient when he was the sole offensive creator. He was also a much better defender in Miami.

Over these 2 years, he was:
      - The best all around offensive player/most efficient high volume scorer in the NBA (27 PPG 7 APG on 64.5% TS)
      - Great mid range shooter
      - 80% finisher at the rim
      - Best transition player ever
      - 42.7% on Catch and Shoot 3s (38.5% from 3 overall)

Not peak athletically, as I think the period horf references would be his athletic peak, but peak as a basketball player. That 2018 year with the team he had to drag them to the finals + that game 1 against the warriors. That was the best Lebron I had ever seen.

That Cavs team was not that bad and he didnโ€™t โ€œdragโ€ them. Kyle Korver is one of the all time great shooters, they had Kevin Love, they had Wade, Isaiah Thomas, and Derrick Rose at one point, got back Rodney Hood and George Hill too, JR Smith was PRAISED in 2015 for his shot making in the absence of Kyrie and Kevin, etc. They still had Tristan Thompson playing at a very high level. Bron said โ€œwe got a squad nowโ€ and they were definitely the best team in the East since Kyrie was injured and Giannis hadnโ€™t arrived in the league yet. They traded away a superstar and weโ€™re heavily compensated, that team wasnโ€™t bad. A bad team that made the finals is the 2001 Philadelphia 76ers. Do some research, that 2018 LeBron was getting all the favorable calls in those series and barely beat the Pacers and Baby Celtics in 7 games. Thatโ€™s the best youโ€™ve seen? A guy losing 3 games to significantly less talented teams in each round?

This is LeBronโ€™s Killer Instinct! People get caught up in MJ and Kobe trying to outscore and embarrass their opponents. LeBron is heady, he manipulates defenses and is a coaching staffs nightmare. Heโ€™s out smarting teams and is more prepared mentally and physically. Thatโ€™s killer also. It just looks different when you play team basketball.

    • Gregory Harlston
      Gregory Harlston 2 ๊ฐœ์›” ์ „ +5

Yeah but MJ was mentally outthinking his opponents too. Ask John Stockton, the all-time assist and steals leader. Two Finals in a row, MJ out IQed Stockton. MJ knew Stockton like to cheat off of his man to double team MJ. So, during a timeout, MJ told Steve Kerr, who Stockton was guarding, to be ready for an open jumper! And as MJ predicted, Stockton left Kerr wide open, MJ passed it to Kerr, who swished it and the Bulls beat Jazz. In the next year's final, MJ lurked in lane while Stockton was too eager to get the ball to Karl Malone. Karl never knew MJ was behind him but Stockton should have! MJ strips Karl and goes down and hits the winning bucket. Stockton and Jazz were out IQed again! When MJ came into the league, he was outjumping everybody. When he left the league, he was outthinking everybody! Lebron is one of the greatest basketball players I've ever seen but MJ was the greatest!

@Gregory Harlston I saw it live so I get it brotha. MJ is my other GOAT for a reason. Iโ€™m just saying that LeBron came in to the league with that mindset. MJ and Kobe had to learn how to trust their teammates and that took a lot of years. Thatโ€™s their path though, it doesnโ€™t take away from their greatness. Iโ€™m solely talking about this โ€œKiller Instinctโ€ that some say LeBron doesnโ€™t have just because it looks different than thereโ€™s.

I love this channel because people can actually talk sports without the sensational BS you see from major news outlets. and the followers of former athletes like McAfee and Redick have way more nuanced perspectives on the sports they discuss

Much respect to Horford. As a OSU Buckeye fan that watch that Florida team crush us in the Natty. I took much delight in the Cavs beating him and Joachim in the playoffs each year. ;)

I think we are about to enter a phase where LeBron just shoots crazy fade aways and threes, and that is a terrifying prospect.

Love this story. Al Horford's comment at ~2:10 was the most impressive about LeBron "...And, to me, that was disturbing". I think LeBron's the GOAT, but I respect anyone's opinion who says it was MJ or Kareem. Either way, LeBron's incredible. He has done, and will likely continue to do, what no players have done before.

2018 is the last "quintessential" LeBron season. It was his only season he played every game, heled the league in minutes played and minutes-per game, and of course he carried the Cavs to the Finals after Kyrie's mutiny and the failure to replace him with an impact player. Ever since then, we've had "load-managed" LeBron, a guy who's great (offensively) when he actually plays but sits large stretches of the season for rest and injuries. I honestly feel like the 2018 season shaved years off his career, which is somewhat amazing considering he's still going strong at his age.

I agree with those years. 2016 watching him against the Raptors was crazy, the Raptors facial expressions were sad to watch. He was hitting shots behind the basket, fade aways, everything was falling.

I have been watching the NBA since 94'. 17-18' Lebron was the best player I have ever seen. Followed by 95-96' Jordan, 20-21' Giannis and 05-06' Kobe. Those years to me, were the best players I have ever witnessed at one time or another.

I am 45, the most scary player I have ever watched was Lebron the last season in Miami. I saw Jordan, and pre injury Grant Hill their entire careers also, and that 1 year from Lebron was just scary good.
